Here's Ann's bio received March, 2008. Photo follows.
Hi classmates! I'm writing this from our lot in a motor home resort in Newport, OR, where my husband, Jim and I are learning the joys of living at the coast. It is raining. But when it is nice, it is very, very nice! We're used to being in the desert somewhere in the wintertime, but this year we decided to stay here. Jim and I have been married for 23 years. I have two sons, Kevin - 44 and Kelly - 42. Jim has 5 offspring - together we have 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Most of our family lives on the west coast, but one daughter and some grandchildren and all the great-grandkids live "back east." Kevin and his wife and two sons live in Tigard, while Kelly and his wife and four kids live in Newberg. Kelly and his wife gave me my one and only blood-related granddaughter who was born on my birthday, so she is a very special little girl. Several years ago Jim and I retired from selling Real Estate. We were traveling all over the US and Western Canada and found it very difficult to show property in Oregon. We were anywhere from the Grand Canyon to Florida to Maine to Palm Springs to New Mexico to Georgia to Cincinnati as well as many other places. You get the idea. We drove many times to Cincinnati because Jim was a national officer of the Family Motor Coach Association and the home office is there. Cincinnati is almost a second home for us now. You may get the idea that we have done extensive traveling. Since buying our present motor home (which we live in) in October 2001, we have driven more than 134,000 miles. That's a fair amount of driving! We have been blessed to have the opportunity to see many sights in our beautiful country. And there are more to go see! One of the most thrilling places to visit was Wethersfield, Connecticut, and its Town Green. In 1633 my 8-times Great-grandfather and others founded this town. I walked on the land that had belonged to him so long ago. His name, Nathaniel Foote, is on a plaque and there is a monument to him there. He came from England, landing at Plymouth Rock in 1630, ten years after the Pilgrims on the Mayflower. The highlight of my travel life was a month-long trip to the far east in 1980. I visited Tokyo, Japan; Taipei, Taiwan; Hong Kong; Kuala Lumpur and Penang Island, Malaysia; and Singapore. What an experience! WOW! Talk about culture shock! Another shock a couple of years ago was to discover that our school is gone. Nothing was there - just a vacant field. Is nothing sacred? I can't believe that I'm 67 years old. I'm happy to take all the senior discounts knowing full well, however, that I have not yet reached middle age. I feel good, I'm in good health, and I plan to live the next 67 years with gusto!
