Robert True Branch, age 69, passed away at home where he was being cared for by his family.
He was born in Portland on August 11, 1940 and lived in the Portland area most of his life.
Robert attended Springbrook Elementary and Newberg High School in Newberg. He also attended Oregon State University. He also served several years in the Oregon Army National Guard.
His working career was spent in credit union management. He worked for Safeway, Payless and Fred Meyer. He retired from the Fred Meyer Credit Union in 2002.
His hobbies included horseback riding in the wilderness, fishing and sports. He followed Portland Trailblazer basketball and also liked college football and basketball. He was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan according to his family!
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; sons, Brett Branch and Faren Branch (Eatinger); daughter, Jean Woll; step-daughters, Kylia Hammon and Amber Johnson.
Also surviving are ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, July 23, 2010 at 2 p.m. at River View Cemetery.
In summer of 2010 we learned of Bob's illness. He passed July 21, 2010. He stayed friends with our other classmate, Ron Davis, until his death. During his illness he was visited by George Burnett and received many cards of support from his classmates. Ron remembers his especially as a kindly man.
