Here are excerpts from a letter received from Shirley in August of 2010
Thanks for the memories, and thanks for remembering me. I wanted to come (to the 2010 gathering) but at the last few days an unexpected bundle of beautiful joy came into our lives and changed our lives forever. Our first great grandchild, Mikayla Grace, entered into our world on July 30, 2010, at 9:12 am. [She is] a beautiful, content angel. We are all thrilled.
An update of my life: Jim (husband) and I have been married 51 years, have three grown daughters, five grandchildren, and now our first great grandchild. Life is good! [We] have lived in the same home for 45 years; we just keep adding on.
I had a bakery for 25 years; very successful. Sold three years ago after having a heart attack . . .and severe back problems. Since '06 life is difficult with pain. I try to keep pressing on. [My] hobby is quilting - am working on one for the new baby. When this is done [I] will start where I left off and begin with the oldest grandchildren. They are now choosing their own designs. I love it!
Time has come and gone so fast. I don't know if I would be remembered. . .
