| Patricia "Pat" Joan Martin
July 28, 1940 - December 7, 2015
Patricia "Pat" Joan Martin was born July 28, 1940 in Newberg, Or, to Otho and Eva Weaver. She attended high school and graduated Newberg High School in 1958. She met her future husband in her folks strawberry fields in 1954 and later married the love of her life, Curtis M. Martin in 1959. The newlyweds moved to Salem where Pat worked as a bookkeeper for Sears for 4-5 years before retiring to become a full-time stay-at-home-mom and raise their three children : Brian, Jeff & Teri. After 17 years, Pat re-entered the workforce and worked for DMV as Unit Supervisor for 20 years before officially retiring in 1998. In retirement, she enjoyed crafting, card-making, cooking, traveling, volunteering and entertaining. She had a very distinct yet contagious laugh and beautiful cursive handwriting. In April 2015, Pat underwent open-heart surgery and spent the next 8 months in and out of the hospital surrounded by her family. She went home to the Lord on Monday, December 7, 2015, passing peacefully with Curtis at her side. Pat has lived in Salem since 1959 and been a member of Grace Baptist Church for 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Curtis M. Martin; sons, Brian E. (Teri) of Jefferson and Jeff A. (Sharina) of Salem; and daughter, Teresa "Teri" J. (Rich) Howard of Keizer; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Viewing will be held Friday December 11th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Restlawn Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday December 12th at 11:00 am at Grace Baptist in Salem.

Bio received February, 2008 for Pat Weaver Martin
We are both (Pat and husband, Curtis) retired and do a lot of volunteer work. I do a lot of work with the Church. Once a week, I work on the hospitatlity committee. We fix and serve snacks between the services. When the church gets together, we fix and serve meals, etc.
Once a month, I do crafts for Time Out For Moms - Foster Parent Night Out. We provide respite care for Foster Parents, giving them four hours of time out. We provide a meal and activities for the foster children. I do the crafts. I also help with our Girlfriends programs, doing crafts or food. I am a team leader for our Joy Fellowship group.
I am the "Queen Mother" of our Red Hat group.
I am also a Rap Chat person. That involves visiting people in an adult foster home that do not have other visitors.
I babysit for my youngest granddaughter one day a week.
We have been married for 49 years in September and we have three children, Brian, Jeff and Teri; seven grandchildren, Chris, Bob, Camron, Jaxson, Deriek, Lexy and Gracie; one great-grandson, Owen.
We always spend Christmas eve together as a family. We also like to camp as a whole family in the summer. We travel with our travel trailer because we have two small dogs, a Pomeranian, Peanut, and a Schitzu, Patches. It is easier to travel with dogs if you have a trailer. We also like to take trips with the Philadelphians.
When my son celebrated his 25th anniversary, the whole family went to Las Vegas for one week. I had my picture taken with "Elvis". (Scroll down to see photo)
