Sally and Bob at the 50th Reunion |
|
| Sally writes (2008):
After graduating in 1958 I attended NCC in Eugene, Oregon, on a scholarship. Due to my Mother's health, I returned home to help.
I married Bob Gibson, class of '59, in March 1960. We had two children, David, born in July 1961, and Rebecca, born in 1970. David is a real estate attorney for Les Schwab, married and has two girls and lives in Bend. He was Oregon's soap box derby champ in 1974 and his girls have also been champs with one winning a trip to Germany to represent USA. Melanie, 18, is a journalism major an will be attending college this fall. Katie is a freshman and very athletic with soccer being number one. Becky is a supervisor at Spirit Mt., is married, has a son, JD, 11, and a daughter, Lizzie, 6. They live in Monmouth.
Bob worked for NW Natural Gas and was transferred to Salem in 1965. At that time I started working for US Bank and stayed with them for 37 years, retiring as a branch manager in 2002.
Bob worked in Portland, Salem, and then went to work in Alaska for 9 years on the slopes at Prudhoe Bay. He came back to Salem, starting his own welding business. In 1986 we moved to Dallas and when Bob decided to become a farmer in 2002 we moved to Powell Butte. Bob became quite ill and we sold our farm, our Belgian Draft Horses, and became city folks again, but this time in Prineville.
Currently Bob is building a 1941 Packard roadster and I am very busy with my church women's group and another club all of which I seem to become treasurer. I also co-chair all the funerals dinners at our church.
We have a trailer and love to travel, camping as we go. We have visited several National Parks as well as other places of interest. We look forward to warm, dry climate and feel we have found it in Central Oregon.
