Jimmy was in Mrs Dyer’s first grade class at Central School, as was Carla, Roger and I. Roger & I had quite a conversation with Jim at one of our last reunions. I asked him if he remembered the time a cigarette fell out of his pocket and he got into big trouble. He remembered and told us the whole story from his prospective, saying it was the worst day of his life! Apparently he picked up & pocketed a cigarette from the ground on the way to school, forgetting all about it until it fell in front of the teacher (while in a reading circle at the front of the room). She made a big deal out of it, drawing him a lot of attention in front of the class as a bad example, plus he had to go stand in the hall or go to the principal’s office, etc. It must have been really bad for him, as he was so young, not used to other kids and just trying to fit in and be invisible. Very traumatic.
Who else remembers this?
