Below are photographs and a letter from Marjorie Peck Baker and her husband, David, received in June of 2008
On our four acre place we have many plots of iris, currently in bloom. Pictured here is the garden room on the south end of the house. Both house and property were sadly neglected when we moved here in 1990. All the place had to recommend it was many mature trees around the house. We've had considerable satisfaction in remodeling the house with three additional [rooms]. including the second story and in bringing the grounds into production.
There were no lawns or flower beds (or vegetable gardens) when we moved here. We now have launs and gardens on three sides of the house, but converted the entire (always scruffy) front lawn into a shade garden.
The nearest of Wallowa Mountain peaks are about five miles from us.
Average snowfall here is 12 - 14 feet but this past winter was unusually heavy with over 18 feet. Here you see the snow piled against and over our front wall.
Below are photos and a letter sent from Marjorie to Sally Gibson in 1963 as a response to our first class reunion, just five years after graduation. The letter is copied from the paper it was written on and is presented in it's entirety.
